International Travel Registration

Background

International travelÌýinvolving studentsÌýthat is CU Boulder-sponsored, CU Boulder-affiliated, related to a CU Boulder activity/program, or accompanied by CU faculty/staff, must be registered with CU Education Abroad prior to departure. CU departments/programs’ funding projects that involve international travel by students are responsible for reporting this information to Education Abroad so that travel registration can be completed. See theÌýCU Boulder Policy on Student International Travel and ProgramsÌýand the High-Risk LocationsÌýpageÌýfor full details, and consult the links to the right for further information as you plan your international travel.Ìý Education Abroad will provide resources to inform on best practices regarding arrangements for the health, safety, and security of the travelers and university policies and will insure travelers in a comprehensive group major medical/evacuation/repatriation insurance program. There is a fee for these services and for the insurance coverage.

How to Register

The registration process will involve submitting info such as:

  • Travel itinerary
  • Emergency plan and contact info
  • Billing information for insurance enrollment
  • Risk acknowledgement waivers

Once you have submitted the registration forms, Education Abroad will enroll your group in and ISOS's travel alert system, as required by .ÌýIf you have any questions about the International Travel Registration process, email registertravel@colorado.edu.

Group Travelers

For group registrations, a designated Group Leader will complete steps 1-4 of the registration process.

  1. STEP 1

    Complete the International Travel Risk Assessment

    ÌýÌý3 Months Before Departure Date

    Certain locations may be considered high risk and require approval by the CU Boulder International Risk Committee* . Complete the at least 3 months before your departure date to determine if your destination is considered high risk.

    *The International Risk Committee meets monthly during the Academic Year and permission requests cannot be expedited.

  2. STEP 2

    Open Group Registration

    You will create your login using you CU IdentiKey (ex. rabu1234, not rabu1234@colorado.edu).

    Group RegistrationsIf you are completing registration on behalf of a group of CU Boulder students, faculty, and/or staff, use this registration link.
    If you have already begun (or are traveling as part of a group) that has already begun the registration process use this link.
  3. STEP 3

    Billing Considerations

    Groups must pay via a CU speedtype account number.Ìý

    Registered Student Groups

    are required to pay for these services through their CSI speedtype. Make sure your CSIÌýaccount has enough funds for the withdrawal, and that an authorized signer makes a payment request throughÌý. If you have any questions about this process, contact csifinance@colorado.edu.

  4. STEP 4

    Submission of Initial Registration by Group Leader

    ÌýÌý6 Weeks Before Departure Date

    The Group Leader should plan to submit the group pre-registration forms at least 6 weeks before departure.

  5. STEP 5

    Group Participant Registration Submissions

    ÌýÌý1 Month Before Departure Date

    Once the Group Leader has submitted the initial registration, the International Travel Registration team will open participant registrations for each person on the group's roster. Group participants must submit their registrations at least one month before the group's departure date.

Individual Travelers

    Determine the Capacity in which You are Traveling

    Are you both a CU employee and a CU graduate student? If you are traveling as part of your CU Boulder employment you may not Ìýneed to complete the International Travel Registration process. To determine whether this applies to you, complete this .

    If you are traveling in your capacity as a student, you must complete the International Travel Registration process.Ìý

  2. STEP 2

    Individual Traveler Registration
    If you are an individual student, not traveling as part of a CU group, complete this registration. ÌýÌý
    Independent Internship Registration

    If you are doing an international internship through Leeds, IAFS, ENVD, HIST, or ENGR complete this registration.

    CMCI and Career Services Global Internship students should complete the Individual Traveler Registration above.

  4. STEP 4

    Submit Your Registration

    ÌýÌý1 Month Before Departure Date

    You should aim to have your International Travel Registration forms submitted at least 1 month prior to your departure date.
