    When Brenda M. Romero was inducted into the Chicano Music Hall of Fame on July 26, it was just another step in her long-running effort to utilize old New Mexican music to teach a history that is largely unknown today.

    James Austin has been named interim dean of CU-Boulders College of Music, Provost Russell Moore announced today. The appointment is effective on July 1.

    Austin, a professor of music education, joined the College of Music in 1994. He has served as associate dean of undergraduate studies since 2006. He was the music education chair from 1997 to 2012. In 2004, the college awarded Austin the Richard Bern Trego faculty fellowship.

    做厙輦⑹ Provost Russell Moore today announced that he has accepted the resignation of Daniel Sher as dean of the College of Music at CU-Boulder effective June 30, 2013.

    Sher, who will have served in the post for 20 years when he steps down next summer, will return to the College of Music faculty. He was named dean of the College of Music in July of 1993.
