The Faculty Fellows Program fosters a collaborative community of faculty leaders who explore the intersection of pedagogy, technology, and student success. This cohort began their journey in Fall 2025 with a seminar focused on topics in teaching and learning including varying perspectives on AI, emergent strategy, students as partners, equity-minded teaching, and alternative grading concepts. Together, they engaged with current research, cross-disciplinary perspectives, and developed proposals for impactful initiatives to pursue in Spring 2026.

In a unique twist, this year faculty were encouraged, but not required, to apply in departmental pairs or interdisciplinary teams. This approach was designed to deepen collaboration and amplify impact at both departmental and campus levels. By working in teams, Fellows can tackle complex challenges and create initiatives that resonate across multiple disciplines.

Fellows will be pursuing projects in:

  • Cultural inventory tool for design studio course to guide pedagogical decisions
  • Course redesign to include more indepth video instruction
  • Redesigned assessments to engage students without AI use
  • Thoughtful use of generative AI in learning environments
  • First year experience course research and development

Each Fellow receives a $3,000 professional development award upon successful completion of the program.

Why This Program Matters

This program is more than professional development—it’s an opportunity to shape the future of teaching at CU Boulder. Faculty Fellows can serve as mentors within their departments, lead teaching, learning and technology initiatives, and share their work with the broader campus community. Past cohorts have launched projects that investigate the impact of learning assistants, showcase student writing online, create faculty learning communities, and develop mini teaching tip resources. These efforts have had a lasting impact on both faculty development and student learning experiences. To learn more about the Faculty Fellows Program or explore past projects, visit theÌýFaculty Fellows webpage. We are considering additional adaptations to the program, but generally seek applications in late April or early May.
