Boulder Climate Ventures

Boulder Climate Ventures (BCV) is a new program at the Leeds School of Business that brings together an interdisciplinary community of students to explore the commercial viability of new ventures in climate tech.

Through a market driven curriculum and a strong focus on community building, BCV provides the next generation of entrepreneurs with the tools to deploy audacious solutions to the climate crisis.

Who should be involved?

Graduate students or postdocs with a background in business, engineering, sciences or policy interested in launching or participating in a climate tech start up. Accomplished undergraduates may inquire.

External advisors, founders, and investors interested in supporting climate innovations and a growing ecosystem in the Denver metro area should reach out.

In 2025-2026, Boulder Climate Ventures will pilot two non-credit bearing classes.

The courses are as follows:

Business Opportunities in Climate Tech (Fall 2025)

“Business Opportunities in Climate Tech” is a 7-week seminar which consists of lectures from industry experts about business opportunities in the climate space. In addition to lectures, the seminar includes class socials and opportunities for small group discussions with external partners.

Climate Tech Venture Discovery (Spring 2026)

Climate Tech Venture Discovery includes core lectures on entrepreneurship principles, guest visits from founders and investors, and dedicated time for project development and feedback for participating teams. BCV sources external advisors with expertise in venture capital and climate tech to support teams in their techno discovery.

Boulder Climate Venture Student Team Application

Student teams must apply to the class with a business idea and a short video pitch. Students who participated in BCV’s fall seminar will have preference for a spot in the incubator.


Boulder Climate Ventures is led by the Center for Ethics and Social Responsibility (CESR) and the Deming Center for Entrepreneurship and made possible by a gift from , Bill Gates’ global initiative on climate change. BCV is part of Breakthrough Energy’s University Climate Ventures program, which also supports programs at Stanford, MIT, Technical University of Munich and Nanyang University in Singapore.
