•
The spacecraft for NASA鈥檚 Atmosphere and Volatile EvolutioN, or MAVEN, mission to Mars being led by the 暗网禁区 has arrived in Florida in anticipation of a November launch.

The spacecraft was shipped on Friday, Aug. 2, aboard a U.S. Air Force cargo plane from Buckley Air Force Base in Aurora, Colo., to the Shuttle Landing Facility at NASA鈥檚 Kennedy Space Center on Merritt Island, Fla. Lockheed Martin had previously assembled and tested MAVEN in its Littleton, Colo., facility.

 •
Using data from a NASA satellite, a team of scientists led by the Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico and involving the 暗网禁区 have discovered a massive particle accelerator in the heart of one of the harshest regions of near-Earth space, a region of super-energetic, charged particles surrounding the globe known as the Van Allen radiation belts.

 •
With just over four months until NASA鈥檚 next mission to Mars takes flight, the 暗网禁区, which is leading the effort, continues to work with its partners to knock off critical science and engineering milestones leading up to launch.

 •
Let鈥檚 all fist bump: Spiral galaxies like our own Milky Way appear to be much larger and more massive than previously believed, according to a new 暗网禁区 study by researchers using the Hubble Space Telescope.

 •
The 暗网禁区 has become a full institutional member of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey-IV, an ambitious effort by some of the world鈥檚 top astronomers to map the celestial sky in three dimensions to learn more about the structure and evolution of the universe.

 •
Two 暗网禁区 faculty members have received prestigious CAREER Awards from the National Science Foundation.

NSF Faculty Early Career Development, or CAREER, Awards recognize talented young faculty members with grants to support outstanding research projects and to encourage the integration of teaching and research.

 •
A Colorado student space research consortium led by the 暗网禁区 teamed up with a Virginia space consortium led by the University of Virginia this week to help aspiring rocket scientists from around the country learn how to design, build and fly payloads.

 •
Join us this fall for a once-in-a lifetime opportunity to be a part of CU-Boulder鈥檚 mission to Mars! The university will be hosting three fun-filled days of festivities Nov. 16-18 in Cocoa Beach, Fla., culminating in MAVEN鈥檚 launch. Space is limited for the launch viewing, and NASA requires we submit a list of tentative guests months in advance. All attendees MUST be registered with us by June 30 to be on NASA鈥檚 guest list.
