The committee—chaired by Sarah Jackson, dean of the Division of Social Sciences in the College of Arts and Sciences—will begin its work in October, supported by the executive search firmÌý.

Search process milestones

  • October: Engagement sessions will be conducted by WittKieffer with University Libraries constituents and the university’s deans.
  • Late October: The search committee will convene to prepare the position leadership profile and job description using input from the engagement sessions.
  • November: The position will be posted with a call for nominations.
  • Early spring: Finalists will be invited to campus.
  • Spring semester: Rosario-Ortiz plans to appoint a permanent dean.

Interim leadership

Following theÌýdeparture of Robert McDonald to the University of Texas at Austin,ÌýTamara Sumner was appointed interim dean in late June by former Provost Russell Moore. Sumner will continue in this role until a permanent dean is named.
