WelcomeFest 2025 lineup announced—Joey Valence and Brae to headline

Program Council is ecstatic to announce that rising stars Joey Valence and Brae will be headlining WelcomeFest this year, supported by Kaliii, Whipped Cream, Dj Vacc, and Huck n’ Pray.

Doors will open at 5 p.m.on Saturday, Aug. 23, on Farrand Field with openers for the concert kicking off performances at 5:30 p.m.

Admission is free to all current CU Boulder students who provide their Buff OneCard at wristband locations, including first-year students, transfer students, returning students, graduate studentsand law students.

Wristbands will be distributed Aug. 23 at four locations starting at 11 a.m., including between Farrand Hall and Farrand Field, UMC Arcade, Dirks Patio (outside the C4C) and Williams Village. Additionally, a second wristband location will open up at 4 p.m. at the tents beside Imig Music. Wristbands are needed for entry to the event. The WelcomeFest concert is one of Program Council’s most exciting and anticipated events, serving as a highlight to Fall Welcome festivities each year and providing an opportunity for new and returning students alike to celebrate the start of the year in community with fellow students.

Joey Valence & Brae is a Pennsylvania-based hip hop duo known for their high-energy sound and playful throwback to the golden era of rap. Blending old-school boom bap with modern flair, the duo quickly gained attention for their infectious charisma and clever lyricism. Their breakout track, “Punk Tactics,” released in 2022, became a viral hit, showcasing their signature mix of hard-hitting beats, witty bars and chaotic fun. The duo’s music often nods to legends like Beastie Boys and Run-DMC, while still feeling fresh and uniquely their own. Tracks like “Double Jump” and “Watch Yo Step” highlight their ability to create adrenaline-fueled anthems that resonate with both nostalgic hip hop fans and new listeners alike. Since their debut, Joey Valence & Brae have toured extensively and earned praise from outlets such asNME andRolling Stone, who commended the duo for reinvigorating classic rap elements with Gen Z irreverence. Their latest project,No Hands, has further cemented their reputation as bold, genre-bending artists who don’t take themselves too seriously, while still delivering undeniable bangers.

Kaliii is an Atlanta-born rapper making waves with her confident delivery, sharp lyricism, and unapologetic attitude. Bursting onto the scene with her viral hit “Area Codes,” Kaliii quickly established herself as a bold new voice in Southern rap. Her music blends infectious hooks with punchy, no-nonsense bars, drawing influence from the likes of Trina and Missy Elliott while carving out a lane that’s entirely her own. In 2023, Kaliii released her breakout projectToxic Chocolate, earning critical acclaim for its fierce energy and emotionally layered tracks. Songs like “Standards” and “BOZO” showcase her ability to balance vulnerability with swagger, offering a refreshingly honest take on modern relationships and self-worth.

WHIPPED CREAM is a Canadian-born EDM artist and producer known for her genre-defying sound and explosive live energy. Blending elements of hip hop, trap, and experimental bass, she’s carved out a space in electronic music that’s dark, cinematic, and emotionally charged. Rising from the underground with her breakout track “Ignorant” in 2017, WHIPPED CREAM quickly earned a reputation for pushing sonic boundaries and delivering raw, visceral performances.

Established in 1953, the University of Colorado Program Council is a student-run department of the Center for Student Involvement funded entirely by student fees allocated through the CUStudent Government (CUSG).
