President’s Inclusive Excellence Awards

We are proud to announce that the nomination period for the President’s Inclusive Excellence Awards is open. These awards honor individuals and one unit from across the University of Colorado who have demonstrated outstanding commitment and made significant contributions to building an environment where everyone can thrive. Recipients of this honor receive $2,000 and a commemorative award.

Applications for the President’s Inclusive Excellence Grants are being accepted with a December 12, 2025, 5:00pm deadline. The President's Inclusive Excellence Grants support innovative and creative initiatives that create a supportive and welcoming environment for all members of the university. Grant funding is for one year with a maximum request of $8,000.

Eligibility: Grant proposals must be submitted by CU full-time faculty* or full-time staff. Students or student groups interested in submitting a proposal need to have a faculty or staff sponsor submit the proposal and include a letter of support.

Review upcoming dates for mobile food pantries

The Basic Needs Center’s mobile food pantries are free and open to CU Boulder students, faculty and staff, as well as community members of Boulder and Broomfield counties. Attendees may receive up to 30 pounds of food in multiple boxes.

Reminder: UMC construction project to take place spring, summer 2026

Upcoming construction will improve the HVAC system, Campus Dining & Hospitality loading dock, and the pavement between the University Memorial Center and CASE buildings. Many of the UMC’s dining locations will be closed during the construction. However, food will be available at The Connection and UMC Market in the building, and at the Roaming Ralphie food trailer nearby at the UClub.

Student Employee of the Year nominations open soon

The 2026 CU Boulder Student Employee of the Year nominations will open Jan. 5!

Each spring, this award recognizes exceptional student employees for their dedication and achievements. It is affiliated with the National Student Employment Association (NSEA) and has been a tradition at CU Boulder for over 25 years. Nominees and nominators are celebrated at an April luncheon, and campus winners are submitted to NSEA for national recognition.

CU Boulder is launching a project to build consensus around a set of shared values that will guide how university communities achieve CU Boulder’s mission, vision and institutional priorities. Co-facilitated by Sonia DeLuca Fernández, senior vice chancellor for leadership support and programming, and Jon Leslie, vice chancellor for strategic communications, the project will begin to engage campus leadership and shared governance groups in November. Please attend one of the values input sessions and fill out this mentimeter survey with your input on our shared values.

Join us for the CU Boulder Blood Drive, happening Tuesday, November 11 through Thursday, November 13, in proud partnership with our longtime partner, Vitalant. As we head into the season of giving, what better way to show your gratitude than by giving the gift of life?

Appointments are strongly recommended but walk-ins are welcome. Let’s show what Buffs can do when we give from the heart. Please see the below appointment links for November.

At our last blood drive, we hit our goal of collecting 55 units each day- now let’s aim even higher! Join the CU Boulder community in going above and beyond to make an even greater difference. Every donation can help save up to three lives, and your generosity could make all the difference for patients in need over the holidays.

Why: Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood. Donating blood is a selfless and impactful act of kindness, and each donation can save up to three different lives. Hospitals in the area and medical facilities rely on voluntary blood donors to provide a steady blood supply for medical procedures, surgeries, and emergencies.

We are committed to achieving our blood drive goals and Staff Council is confident that the CU Boulder community will rise to the occasion. With your support and participation, we can surpass our blood drive target of fifty-five units per day and make a remarkable impact with each donation.

How to prepare:

Review eligibility criteria: Donor Eligibility
Eat a healthy meal and stay hydrated before your donation appointment
Bring a valid photo ID
Try and get a good night’s sleep the day before

Staff Council is committed to inclusivity and understands that some may not be eligible to donate. We invite all to be involved in other ways. For more information about volunteering at our events, please contact Staff Council.

The Staff Council Blood Drive & Community Service Committee is pleased to partner with Coats for Colorado to host a Fall Coat Drive. From Tuesday, October 21 through Friday, November 21, we invite you to donate new or gently used winter coats in adult and child sizes.

Collection bins, being delivered today, will be conveniently located throughout main campus. Bins will be available in the below locations through 3:00pm on Friday, November 21st and then Staff Council will drop off all collected coats to Dependable Cleaners at the end of the drive.
