We sent this email at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 to current graduate students (not law) who took classes in Spring 2025 but hadn't yet registered for Fall 2025.

Dear [first],

Registration is open for Fall 2025, but you haven't enrolled in classes yet. For the best chance to get the classes you want, we encourage you to register as soon as possible.

As a continuing graduate student, you’re able to register now. Registration remains open through open enrollment, which begins Thursday, Aug. 14, 2025.

Working on Your Thesis or Dissertation?

If you’re a master’s or doctoral student working only on your thesis or dissertation, we encourage you to reach out to your faculty advisor to establish a plan for your thesis/dissertation work during the fall semester.

If you have any questions or concerns about registering for your required thesis or dissertation hours, your graduate program assistant can help.

Need Registration Help?

If you're having difficulty choosing classes or navigating registration, follow these steps to keep moving forward.

Reach out to your graduate program assistant or faculty advisor with questions about course selection and thesis hours.
Clear any holds that will prevent you from registering.
Complete your preregistration items.
Build your shopping cart.
If a class is closed, join the waitlist and use drop if enrolled on a backup class.
If a class you need is only offered on another CU campus, consider intercampus enrollment.
Finish enrolling in classes.

Our records indicate that although you graduated from CU Boulder in May, you're registered for one or more Summer or Fall 2025 classes in the same degree program.

Students who've graduated from a degree program aren't allowed to take additional courses in that program; therefore, we've placed you in a nondegree program for spring semester. You're still enrolled in your classes.

Note: If you received an undergraduate degree but are still completing requirements for an additional major, please contact your advisor.

Your Next Steps

Enrollment changes like this one may result in an adjustment to your bill and financial aid package. Check your tuition and fee balance in Buff Portal and visit the Continuing Education website or meet with an advisor to learn more about nondegree tuition and fees.

As a nondegree student, you'll register for Main Campus classes through ACCESS in the future. If you wish to pursue another degree, you may:

Apply to pursue another undergraduate degree.
Apply to pursue a graduate degree (contact the department offering the degree).

We sent this email at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 29, 2025, to students whose COF lifetime hour limit was extended on their behalf.

Dear [first],

We noticed that you've exhausted your allotted 145 lifetime hours of COF funding toward your degree. On your behalf, we've granted you an institutional extension that allows your COF funding to continue through Spring 2026.

You don't need to take any additional action at this time. This semester's COF hours will be applied to your bill within 48 to 72 hours.

To Apply for Additional COF Hours

If you expect you'll need COF hours after Summer 2024, you may submit a Colorado Commission on Higher Education waiver request to ask for additional hours.

To Postpone This Extension

To postpone this COF lifetime limit extension until your next semester of enrollment, email the COF support team by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2025.

Please be aware that if you postpone the extension, you'll be responsible for paying the portion of this semester's tuition typically covered by COF funds.
