Announcing the Colorado Art Science Environment Fellows and Colorado State Capitol Exhibition
The Office for Outreach and Engagement announces the Colorado Art Science Environment (CASE) Fellows program, as the latest incarnation of the offices work to connect the arts, sciences and community for shared action on Colorados interrelated social and environmental issues.
CASE Fellows are artists from all corners of Colorado and CU Boulder scientists who will work in teams to produce artworks that will be exhibited at the Colorado State Capitol as part of the , May-September 2023 (opening date May 19, 2 p.m. 4 p.m). The exhibition, , will tell the story of how Coloradans are experiencing interrelated challenges of fire, drought, and water and air quality in their communities. The CASE Fellows aim to build a sense of connection around Colorado environmental issues by co-ideating artwork with input from communities.
Lisa Schwartz from the Office for Outreach and Engagement is leading the program in partnership with Shelly Sommer at INSTAAR, Boulder County Arts Alliance and with exhibition installation and curatorial support from Amy Hoagland, MFA.
The CASE Fellows program connects scientists and science to the lived experiences of Coloradans grappling with a changing landscape, said Schwartz. With thisart-science and community collaboration, the Office for Outreach and Engagement continues to grow our statewide networks for this critical work.
Two of the CASE Fellows, Amy Hoagland and Dennis Doyle, are connected to former Art + Science + Action cohorts, Engaged Arts and Humanities Scholars and CU Boulder NEST Fellows.
