His research activities pertain to clinical epidemiology, study of risk factors and prognostic factors of diseases, pharmacoepidemiology, safety of drugs and evidence synthesis (through systematic reviews, meta-analyses and umbrella reviews). He has gained experience as a GRADE methodologist and was part of the team of methodologists who contributed to develop the GRADE-based pioneer edition of the European Ulcerative Colitis Treatment Guidelines, European Crohn’s & Colitis Organization (ECCO) and the Italian IG-IBD guidelines on the use of biologics and small molecules in inflammatory bowel diseases. His activity as a biostatistician concentrates on applied biostatistical methods such as multivariable analyses and statistical learning tools, development and validation of prognostic models, causal inference analyses through propensity score methods, decision curve analyses, planning and analysis of observational and randomized studies.
