Otto anni fa, quando si \u00e8 impegnata per la prima volta nella ricerca mitocondriale, ha iniziato studiando le disfunzioni ereditarie della fusione mitocondriale nella malattia neurodegenerativa Charcot-Marie-Tooth di tipo 2A (CMT2A). Nel prossimo futuro, lei ha intenzione di continuare a concentrarsi sui difetti ereditari della fusione mitocondriale nelle anomalie cardiache. L&#8217;obiettivo a lungo termine di questo progetto sar\u00e0 trovare modi per affrontare strategie terapeuticamente per il trattamento dei difetti di fusione mitocondriale sia nell&#8217;insufficienza cardiaca che nelle malattie neurologiche.
