Undergraduate ChBE Ambassador Position

The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering (ChBE) seeks undergraduate students to serve as ambassadors who will provide regular feedback on the experience in our degree programs and help shape departmental experiences and initiatives focused on outreach and community-building. The annual cohort of ChBE ambassadors aims to include four ambassadors from each year (first year, sophomore, junior, senior), two of whom are in the CBEN/BIEN degree program and two of whom are in the CHEN degree program.

ChBE Ambassadors will take part in mandatory monthly meetings with faculty mentors – Assistant Teaching Professors Trevor Franklin and Katie O’Harra – according to the following schedule:

These meetings will focus on enhancing educational experiences within the department, will involve brainstorming for outreach and community-building initiatives, and will extend to volunteering opportunities at department events. Outreach initiatives will focus on engaging prospective chemical engineers and bridging ChBE to society at large; for example, facilitating conversations with accepted students. Community-building initiatives will focus on meeting the educational, social and professional needs of the student community; for example, programming for career development support.

Becoming a ChBE Ambassador is a great way to get to know professors, advocate for the needs of the undergraduate community, bolster your skills in scientific communication, share what is special about this ChBE department to the world beyond CU and earn money.
