Engaging International Students through CLAC

Increased international student enrollments on U.S. campuses over the last decade challenge faculty, staff, and administrators to think about strategies for developing welcoming environments for this diverse population. ÌýA logical place to begin thinking about international student well-being and academic success is to consider how to leverage students' language and cultural knowledge to support their academic goals and increase a sense of belonging and contribution in the classroom. After a brief overview of CLAC's philosophical approach to learning, Dr. Gonzalez will provide an in-depth case study of international students' experiences in Binghamton University's CLAC program, which she directed for more than 15 years.
