Do you have a supervisor who goes above and beyond to support you? The Student Employee Supervisor of the Year Award celebrates supervisors who make a real difference—those who lead with empathy, mentor with care and help student employees grow and succeed.Ìý

This award is a new addition to the Student Employee of the Year program, and it’s all about recognizing supervisors who inspire and guide their student teams in meaningful ways.Ìý

EligibilityÌýÌý

To qualify for the Student Employee Supervisor of the Year Award, nominees must:

  • Supervise student employees: This includes on-campus student workers and off-campus work-study employees.
  • Be your direct supervisor for at least four months: They should have worked directly with you for this minimum time.

Current or past supervisors are eligible as long as they meet the criteria. You can also nominate more than one supervisor. However, only one winner will be selected.Ìý

Evaluation Criteria

Nominate supervisors that meet the following criteria:Ìý

Extent to which the supervisor provides mentorship, training and guidance that supports academic and professional growth.Ìý

ÌýÌýDelegating Meaningful Work
Quality and intentionality of assigned tasks, including skill-building opportunities and alignment with student strengths.Ìý

ÌýÌýFlexibility and Empathy (Student First, Employee Second)
Supervisor’s understanding of academic demands and personal needs while maintaining appropriate accountability.ÌýÌýÌý

ÌýÌýCommunication and Support
Supervisor’s communication style, encouragement of feedback, clarity and overall supportiveness.Ìý

ÌýÌýOverall Impact
The supervisor’s meaningful, positive influence on the student’s experience and development.Ìý
