Sinocruz brings a wealth of experience in education, law, and civil rights to his role at CU Boulder. He began his career in higher education as an admissions officer at Stanford University, where he also earned his Bachelor of Arts in English literature and Master of Arts in sociology, focusing on social stratification and inequality.

He went on to earn his Juris Doctor from the UCLA School of Law, where he participated in the critical race studies program and was an Education Pioneers Fellow. Following law school, Sinocruz worked extensively on education and civil rights issues—serving as a supervisory attorney and team leader at the U.S. Department of Education Office for Civil Rights, and later as a staff attorney at the Advancement Project in Washington, D.C.

Sinocruz is a member of the California and District of Columbia Bars, and his admission to the Colorado Bar is currently pending.

In his free time, Sinocruz enjoys eating and traveling the world (102 countries and counting), exploring the robust local lively arts scene, raising his rescue mutt Sophie, and leading Zumba and yoga classes throughout the Denver metro area.

"I've been in the education field my entire career, and I'm excited to be back working on a college campus, at the flagship university of my adopted home state no less," Sinocruz said. "The energy and innovation at CU Boulder are palpable and inspiring."

The Ombuds Office looks forward to the insight, compassion, and expertise Sinocruz will bring to the CU Boulder community in his new role as associate ombuds.
